Vintage Wheel of Fortune 1988 Electronic Home Game in East Hampton, Connecticut For Sale

There are a total of 4 game modes (Classic, Jackpot, VCR, and Manual), but only the last one will still work, as the others were designed to be played during telecasts of Wheel of Fortune in the late xxxxs by using an IR device pointed towards the TV. Although--if you happen to have videotape coverage of late-80s Wheel episodes, you might be able to use the VCR mode to play along. Aside from the lack of compatibility with current programming, the device is fully operational (as evidenced by the photographs shown magnifying the LCD screen) and in great shape cosmetically.
There is no instruction manual, but I was able to determine fairly easily the steps to play the game: Press ON; press GAME until MANUAL shows up on screen; press PLAYERS until desired number appears on screen; press ENTER SCORE; type the puzzle phrase (for the photographs here, the puzzle phrase is "The name of the game"); press ENTER SCORE again to cover the letter 'tiles'; press SPIN; guess a letter by pressing it; at any time (if you have enough money) you can press on one of the vowel buttons to purchase the vowel; to take a crack at solving the puzzle, press SOLVE and type in the missing letters in order. Tada!
The game require one 9V battery and can be played by 1-3 players. Obviously, someone needs to enter the puzzle before the actual players play the game, as, if one of the 'players' types in the puzzle, they'll already know the answer, so at least 2 people need to be involved for the scenario to actually work.
Device weighs about 10 ounces with battery installed. Dimensions: 7.5" W x 4.75" D (Height ranges from 5'8" to 2"). Buttons are made soft rubber and they're easy to depress.
